How to Set Up a Practice (Test) Webinar in Demio

Rehearse before your first webinar. Create a Standard test event, add resources and a CTA, upload your slides, and join the room — note you can only join within 24 hours of the start time.

We're always happy to set up a practice webinar for you — just ask your account team. But if we're ever short on time before your event, here's how to set one up yourself in a few minutes so you can rehearse before you go live.

Step 1 — Log into Demio

Sign in to your Demio account. You'll land on the Schedule page.

Step 2 — Click "Add New Event" and choose "Standard"

In the top-right, click Add New Event, then choose Standard as your webinar type.

Step 3 — Name it, set a date and time, and create it

Give your event a name (for example, "Test Webinar"), choose a date and time, then click Create Event.

Step 4 — Click "Prepare the Room"

A pop-up will confirm your event was created. Click Prepare the room — this opens the Resources tab.

Step 5 — Add your resources (and a CTA)

Click Add a Resource and add any polls, handouts, or a featured action (a CTA). We recommend adding a CTA to your test webinar so you can experience what it's like to launch one and see how it looks on your screen during the session.

Step 6 — Add your slides

Click Presentation Materials, then Add a Material. Upload your slides, give them a name, and click Add Material.

That's all you need for a basic test setup.

Joining the room to practice

Go to the test session you set up and click Join Room.

Important: you can only join the room within 24 hours of your test webinar's start time. If you schedule it two or three days out, Demio won't let you in. So set your test for a date and time within the next 24 hours, and you'll be able to join the room and rehearse.

Common questions

Is my practice webinar recorded?

Yes. Demio starts recording the moment you click Start Session, so everything said from that point is captured and will show up in the replay for that test event. Nobody is registered for a practice event, so it isn't sent to anyone — but it's worth knowing the mic is live as soon as you start, and side conversations do get picked up.

Can I start the test after its scheduled start time?

Yes. The time you scheduled isn't a hard start — you can begin later than that. The rule that actually matters is the 24-hour one above: you can only join the room within 24 hours of the scheduled start time.

What happens if I click "End Session" by mistake?

On a practice event, nothing — there are no registrants, so there's nothing to send and nothing to undo.

On a real event it matters a lot. Ending the session is the signal that your webinar is finished, and it starts your post-webinar follow-up going out to registrants — the replay email, then the consultation follow-up the next day. So if you join your real webinar room early to get set up, don't start and end the session while you're testing things. If you do end one by accident, message us straight away and we'll stop what we can before it goes out.

Can you just set one up for me?

Yes — ask your account team and we'll create the practice event for you. The steps above are for when you'd rather not wait.

Once you're in the room, see Running Your Live Webinar: Launching Polls, Handouts, and Your Call to Action for how to actually launch everything.
